2022 Draft Master Plan Update

A primary responsibility of the Webster Township Planning Commission is to prepare and adopt a basic plan as a guide for the future development of the Township (Michigan Planning Enabling Act, PA 33 of 2008).  This Master Plan will serve to promote a planned environment by providing a vision for the Township’s future. The Master Plan (“The Plan”) is a strategy/policy type plan; that is, it describes the Planning Commission's strategies regarding the future of the Township and the policies that are intended to implement them.  The strategies are aimed at the fundamental (or strategic) conditions that the Planning Commission expects the Township to face in the foreseeable future.

The township's current plan was adopted in 2015 and has not been updated since. The Township Planning Commission started the update process in April of 2019. A master plan survey was completed in October of 2019. The Township also held a Visioning Session/Open House on November 9, 2019 as part of the community input process.  On January 19, 2022 the Planning Commission reviewed Master Plan draft dated Jan 5 2022 draft and requested the Board of Trustees to review, accept and approve the Jan 5 2022 version for distribution to the surrounding communities for input. On February 15, 2022 the BOT approved a resolution to accept and distribute the Jan 5 2022 version of the draft Master Plan.  Comments are to be provided within 63 days which is May 5, 2022.

A copy of the current Master Plan draft can be accessed here.

Following the 63-day comment period, the Planning Commission will hold a public hearing (with 15 days notification) and at that hearing or afterwards approve (by majority) a final 2022 Master Plan by resolution.
